New photos, I'm not having a meltdown, and spaghetti sauce in a jar

Thanks to all who recently inquired about my mental state! HAHA! Just wanted to make sure that everyone knows we are doin' good. I've posted before about my tendency to compose stories dripping with drama but, since we have new blog friends, I thought I better say again that I'm not flying over the cuckoo's nest anytime soon. For example, when I wrote that after seeing M's tan lines I almost cried....well, that was a bit on the exaggerated side. Actually I said something like "Ah, drat." In all honesty I had no idea that a baby's crazy sleep issues would have such an effect on a mama's life (and daddy's, too), and there are definitely times when I say to M, "Dude, if you don't stop crying my brain might explode." But life is good. Life is good.

NEW PHOTOS: Sorry, I'm too busy to upload them, so click HERE to view "outside fun". Don't forget to click on the captions at the top right of screen.

On another note, does anyone know of a good, not-too-sweet spaghetti sauce? I'm talking in the jar. Don't laugh, I used to buy the canned kind on the bottom shelf for 99 cents, so the jar is a step up. I can't find one that isn't too sweet tasting...and I'm not into making my own. Some people swear by their so-called "easy" recipes, but when you live the life of a rockstar something has to give and, for me, it is homecooking. So...any advice is appreciated! Disclaimer: I am not a rockstar. (Well, at least not yet.) That was an exaggeration.

Have you ever tried Newman's Own Sockarooni? That's my favorite kind besides homemade.

The traditional Ragu is not sweet at all. We don't like sweet either.

I think Newman's is good too - the sockarooni is my dh's favorite.

How can you make spagetti sauce funny? You've got skillz, girl!
I just buy the cheapest sauce (in a jar) and if it's too sweet, I add garlic salt. Yeah, not much of a 'secret', is it?
Hope that non-sleeping cutie pie decides to put on his sleeping cap sometime soon! Mama needs a BREAK, I am sure!

Hi Tish, Thanks for visiting our blog! Here is the recipe for Chocolate Mint Bars. They were a really special treat and different from things we usually make. I almost thought they were too sweet but quickly came to my senses. The brownie layer has a whole can of chocolate syrup in it! Enjoy.

I am cracking up. :) Your flair for drama is what makes your blog so fun to read! I have a thing for drama too, so I can relate. Glad to hear your brain hasn't exploded yet. That's always good. For a second there- I thought maybe you WERE a rockstar and I was just clueless. :) I'm posting just for you today!

As for spaghetti sauce, we use the jar stuff too, and I do have to echo the Newman's Own recommendation. We usually mix two different jars (half and half). Scot says it gives the spaghetti a better "depth of flavor" (I don't even know what that means!) When we lived in Ohio, we LOVED a sauce called MIDS. It isn't available here in NH, so we haven't had it in awhile. I have no idea what the sugar content is. It was yummy though!!!

Now I've got some catching up to do!

Muir Glen Oven Roated Tomato.
A small family can get 2 meals out of 1 jar. Organic. My kids will eat it off of the spoon! IF they don't have it...I buy Amy's or Newman's.
Don't you just a love a place where you can go & talk to chicks
about sauce?! :) How cool is that?

xoxo,

Andrea

are you a spicy mama? we don't like sweet either. we use arriabiata style. A little kicky is how we like it. Also if you simmer it for a while before hand it takes the jarred taste out of it.
