HAPPY FRIDAY!

Isn't this a precious face?
Matthew LOVES to wear hats. Especially when I say "You have a hat just like Daddy!" A lot of mothers tell me they can't get their kids to keep hats on...or that it is a huge battle of the wills to do so. God is so smart to give us a child who loves to wear hats because we live in the desert and, without one, his little fair skin would be burnt to a crisp. He already knows that if he wants to go outside, he has to have his noggin covered. I'm going to have to research children's sunblocks, too...so if anyone has a good recommendation, I'd love to hear it.

While traveling in Taiwan our guide told us that very light skin is considered beautiful to the Taiwanese people. Supposedly, when Taiwanese women get pregnant they stop eating soy sauce and start eating more tofu in hopes that by eliminating the dark sauce and adding the white tofu to their diet, the baby's skin will be fair.

Interesting tidbit of info!! I have heard that is true in China also.

The BEST sunblock is made by Arbonne. :) I have tried lots of different brands. It's wonderful.

Grant loves baseball caps too, but he just outgrew his little brown GAP one... time for a new hat for the spring!!!

LOVE that picture!!! He has a GORGEOUS face!!!!! :) Wish I could hug him through the screen!

Such a cute picture.

My mother is Filipino and she's the same way. She just doesn't undestand why I always want to be darker. She just doesn't get it.

My students have told me about these food regulations for pregnant women, and they believe them wholeheartedly. I told them that I'm sure my mother ate all kinds of dark things when she was pregnant with me, and my skin is pretty pale. Then they told me this didn't make a difference for white people, only Asian people. Interesting, eh? =)
