another 1st time mama question
Anyone have an issue with the baby outgrowing the car seat before ready for a booster seat? M's head is moving quickly toward the top of his car seat.

hi again!
i think we've been dealing with a lot of the same things having our kids so close in age - and two big boys! well, when i had to transition griffin from his baby carrier car seat, i knew i needed to invest in one that went up to a higher weight/height b/c i didn't want to have to buy yet another one before a booster seat. while they are typically much more expensive, i got a britax - i think the specific one was called boulevard and the pattern i got was called regal b/c it was discontinued and on clearance! search around and you can find free shipping and a pretty good deal on it. i have to say, though, that griffin does look pretty big in his seat already but it is supposed to last up to 65lbs.
Ditto on the Britax....that's what I used, and both my boys are on the taller side. I purchased mine 9years ago, and i think at that time they were rated to 40lbs??, but when it was time to move into a booster (went with Britax at that point as well) there wasn't an issue, except for longer trips when the car seat is much nicer for sleeping.
I can't tell you how secure the britax is when you install it. That sucker does NOT move. I think it's more than worth the money, and I'm sure you'd be happy with it.
I bought a Britax regent, which is huge and expensive. Recently, I bought the Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 which is great for toddlers and moves up with them as they grow. It's totally reasonably priced and both my boys beg to be the one to ride in it.
Hope that helps.
Yes, you have to look at the weight and height, and the child might grow out of the seat according to one measurement but not the other. We've had the Britax Roundabout and just switched our almost-4 boy to the Britax Marathon. The car seats are much safer than the boosters, so we'll keep him in that for a long while. I have a Toyota Camry and the Britax seats install like they are part of the car -- they absolutely don't move. Good luck!

Time for some changes. I'm getting rid of my internet/phone service and will just have a cell phone now. I will sure miss watching Matthew grow and reading your enjoyable blog. Wishing you and family the best! Liz
Graco or Eddie Bauer! UNLESS- You are palnning to have more childen, Then purchase the Britax. If you wash it when it is dirty,it will last through every single one of your children! Then it is worth the money. If M will be the only one, get one of the cheaper ones. You can buy 2 or 3 Graco's for the price you will pay for the Britax and Grandma and Dad can have one in their car, too.
Happy Hunting!

A
