About time for another "sleep" post

Here are some new pics with the new camera. Just stuff from around the house. They haven't been edited at all...I'm trying to see what kind of images the camera will take w/out doctoring.

We're trying to go to one nap/day. It is not working well. Not well at all. It seemed necessary because he started cranking out some serious napping, but his nights were going back to restless sleep AND he was waking way too early (earlier than his normal early). But...unfortunately he won't sleep longer than an hour for the nap, which means he desperately needs more sleep, hence a second nap that is way too short (today 25 mins), and he wakes up MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD. Once M's sleep gets out of whack and he gets overtired, he seriously cannot sleep. So today I was the prisoner of a very tired, fussy boy. Ugh, sadness depart, leave gladness in my heart!!!

So sorry about M's sleep. That has to be hard. I like the photo of the paints.

I like the photos!! I would love to get a Rebel before we go to China... I just love the way those Canons take pictures!! Awesome!

Boo about the nap thing. :( I don't get why naps have to be such a struggle with some kids. They're TIRED!! Shouldn't sleep just happen??? Naturally. One would THINK anyway...

I was the prisoner of a tired fussy boy yesterday too. The happiest he ever was, was when he was eating cake last night. :)

Hugs to you my friend!

Rebecca

P.S. I am a prisoner again today!!!! Sigh... I wonder if Grant is getting teeth or something. He is just nonstop cranky and sometimes I actually resort to SNEAKING off somewhere to try and get peace for 5 minutes. Only he has this mama-radar and he always spots me and runs up to me wailing!! I seriously need a babysitter this weekend...

That transition from two naps to one nap was HARD for us too....particularly with Sawyer who had lots of sleep issues. We had to do the every other day thing for awhile, then every third day he'd get a second nap. The great news is, that when they DO catch on (and Matthew will eventually) and start napping just the once, they start sleeping SO much longer. Sawyer was sleeping 3 hours daily from age 2-3!!! It was AWESOME. He'd still nap every day if I let him, but I don't REALLY want him up till 9PM. But, the transition was very, very stressful. Sawyer was another kid for maybe a month or two! I'll be praying for you.

On another note.....why doesn't MY camera take pictures like that? User error maybe? What "mode" did you use to take the water picture? That looked so COOL! You have a great eye! It clearly takes more than a nice camera to take great pictures! I think I need lessons!

jude was a horrible napper, too! i can so relate! have you tried a super early bedtime? like even as early as 6:30 or 7? that worked for us when jude was that age. good luck! oh, and repeat after me, "this too shall pass... this too shall pass!" :)

My SIL had a BAD napper.
She was told to put"black out" over his windows, provide a tiny night light(on the other side of the room, a lullaby cd softly playing, and put to bed the same time every day(rain or shine). Do not go back into the room for 2 hours..no matter what(You know, unless you smell smoke :)
After 1 MISERABLE week of screams and tantrums, all was good. He said some kids have to have the room REALLY dark to get into a really deep sleep. Her kid was one of them. Worth a shot.

yep, i have very dark curtains, a tiny night light, and a fan & humidifier going..........and i don't go in when he cries, but when he wakes, that's it...he is up. no going back down. i have left him in there for long periods of time HOPING he would go back to sleep, but no such luck.
