Waiting Children
Check out Rebecca's blog for information about new Waiting Children. Twice now Rebecca has shared details about a Waiting Child on her blog and both times it has led to an adoption! May the same be true for these sweet children!

HAPPY FRIDAY!
Isn't this a precious face?
Matthew LOVES to wear hats. Especially when I say "You have a hat just like Daddy!" A lot of mothers tell me they can't get their kids to keep hats on...or that it is a huge battle of the wills to do so. God is so smart to give us a child who loves to wear hats because we live in the desert and, without one, his little fair skin would be burnt to a crisp. He already knows that if he wants to go outside, he has to have his noggin covered. I'm going to have to research children's sunblocks, too...so if anyone has a good recommendation, I'd love to hear it.
While traveling in Taiwan our guide told us that very light skin is considered beautiful to the Taiwanese people. Supposedly, when Taiwanese women get pregnant they stop eating soy sauce and start eating more tofu in hopes that by eliminating the dark sauce and adding the white tofu to their diet, the baby's skin will be fair.

Thinking of you....
I've been thinking a lot about all of the women who are dealing with miscarriages, infertility treatments, adoption delays, etc. And while some days these trials may be "easier", other days they just plain stink. While I know that many people who visit this blog never leave a comment (little blog stalkers!!!), I also know that leaving a personal remark may be difficult in such a public forum. So I set up a new email address for anyone who may have questions or just want to "type" to someone about the ups & downs of trying to become a mama.
The address is 1sttimemama1@gmail.com
Don't forget that "1" at the end of "1sttimemama"...apparently the plain ol' "1sttimemama" address is already being used. But, I guess you could try emailing that mama just to see what advice she might have!!!

No Tears (and some playground photos)
Photos from last week's trip to the playground:

Matthew's Aunt Kit bravely volunteered to watch Matthew while I attended a funeral today. I had all kinds of "no-cry tactics" available for her to use (read: snacks, snacks, snacks), but it turned out she didn't need any! Matthew didn't cry the entire time I was gone. HOORAY! And he barely noticed when I got home! BOO! Seriously though, Kit is an extra special person with a soft voice and gentle demeanor and, when she babysits, the child is the center of attention at all times. I know Matthew was ecstatic to have someone play with him non-stop. Can't ask for a better babysitter! Thanks Kit!!!

Highlights of the Day
Daddy dressing Matthew. Can you see from the photo that BOTH shirt and pants are on backwards?
Matthew's diaper wedgie! Too funny...sorry, no photo!
Matthew eating out of the garbage can...because he obviously didn't get enough at dinner. He was washing off his chair with a wipe and went to throw it in the garbage. I turned my back to run water in the sink and looked around to see him munching away.
I know I have said this before, but Matthew is such a great helper. On his own, he decided to start handing me dishes out of the dishwasher to put away. When picking up his toys, he knows if a certain toy doesn't belong with others...like in a specific bag. He loves to help water the plants and put clothes from the dryer in the basket. Usually when we come home from the grocery store, he will get items out of the bag and hand them to me to put away. Today, however, after grabbing the first box out of the bag, he indicated that he wanted me to pick him up. I did and saw that he wanted to be the one to put the box away in the pantry. So we put away all the groceries with him helping like that. Hope this lasts!
Great story by Andrea on her blog.
